Castleknock Club Notes

It’s time to start getting our Scór na nÓg teams together.  Scór is the GAA’s talent competition and comprises eight categories – céilí dancing, solo singing, trad music, recitation, ballad group, question time, novelty act and set dancing. If your talents lie in any of these areas and you’d like to take part contact Barbara O’Neill at 086 3782419 or barbaraoneill@eircom.net.
Well done to our U-9s and 10s who hosted Ballinastraw Gaels from Co Wexford and to all who helped provide a great example of Castleknock hospitality to our visitors from the Model County.
All our teams are back training and new players of all ages are very welcome to give Castleknock GAA a go.

Well done to Fr Mick from Laurel Lodge who raised over €10,000 by his trek for the Hospice.

St Oliver Plunkett’s Club Notes

Commiserations to our Junior B Footballers on their Championship semi-final defeat to Skerries Harps.
The team have done the club particularly proud this season: being promoted to Division 7 and progressing as far as the B Championship semi-final only one season after capturing the C Championship crown.
Congratulations to our Senior Footballers on their Championship fourth-round victory over Ballymun Kickhams.
Best of luck to all our teams over another big Championship week: Senior camogie have Championship game against Good Counsel in Lawless Park on Tuesday 14 at 7pm.
Senior Hurlers have vital Championship match against St. Vincent’s in Pairc Naomh Uinsionn on Saturday, September 18 at 5:45pm.
Junior hurlers have Championship relegation play-off against Commercials in Martin Savage Park on Sunday, September 19 at 10:30am.
Minor Footballers have Championship against Round Towers (C) in Clondalkin Community Centre on Sunday, September 19 at 10:30am.

Castleknock Club Notes

It was a great week for our hurlers, both young and old. Our adult A hurlers had two great championship wins over Na Fianna and Ballyboden, and the adult B hurlers qualified for the semi-final of the championship with victory over Lucan.
Our Under-11 hurlers won their Camaint semi-final and final in Parnell Park and our Under-14 hurlers took part in a great Under-14 hurling tournament, hosted by Loughgiel Shamrocks of Antrim. Many thanks to Loughgiel and Declan McFadden for their hospitality.
Well done to the Dublin U-16 girls, and particularly Castleknock’s Sinead Comerford, on winning the All Ireland with victory over Kerry. Hard luck to the Dublin senior football team who played with great pride and passion.
Well done to all who participated in our last summer camp, and many thanks to all who helped out during the week.

Castleknock Club Notes

OUR Adult A hurlers had a great win over Crumlin last Friday night. Congrats to Ciaran Kilkenny and the Dublin minor hurlers with their exciting victory over Wexford in the Leinster semi-final.
Our end-of-term juvenile disco was a great success with 200 kids enjoying the night. Many thanks to all who organised and helped out on the night.
The club has entered the Kelloggs Field of Dreams Competition and we need 900 tokens from participating Kelloggs cereals.

Castleknock Hurling & Football Club have announced the dates of our Summer Camps for 2010.
The dates are: July 12 to July 16 and August 16 to August 20. The camps are designed to ensure that all participants are kept busy learning and improving their skills of Hurling and Gaelic Football in an enjoyable and friendly environment.

St Oliver Plunkett’s Club Notes

THE Club’s Golden Jubilee Golf Classic will take place this Friday, July 2, at Castleknock Golf Club.
Tee boxes and greens can be sponsored for €100.
Tee times are reserved from 8:00am – 4:00pm.
A four-person team costs €300 before 12:50pm and €400 afterwards.
All support is greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to Jade Carey, Lizzy McSweeny, Megan O’Reilly, Deirdre Dillon and the Dublin Under-16 Camogie Team who defeated Wexford to progress to the Leinster final against Kilkenny next Saturday.

St Oliver Plunkett’s Club Notes

Thanks to all who helped make our Annual Feile Race Night a great success.
There will be a Social Night Table Quiz in aid of our junior C footballers in the clubhouse this Thursday, April 8 from 8.30pm. All support greatly appreciated.
Congratulations to Seán McGuinness and the Dublin Under-21 footballers on their Leinster final triumph over Westmeath.
Best of luck to our junior B and C footballers in their respective cup quarter-finals this weekend and to our senior camogie in their first senior league game in Martin Savage Park this week. All support greatly appreciated.
As part of the club’s 50th anniversary celebrations, all members are invited to attend a special recording of the famous RTE Radio program, Céilí House, in the clubhouse on Monday, April 19 at 7.30pm.
Also, as part of the club’s celebrations, the opening of the clubhouse museum will take place on Wednesday, April 21 at 8pm.

Well done to all who helped out and participated in our Easter camp last week.
Also, big thanks to all who organised and helped out at the juvenile disco.
The spring ball date is May 7 in the Castleknock Hotel; tickets will go on sale shortly.
