Cabinteely lift the Liam Dodd Cup

cabolslcupCabinteely FC’s senior side recorded a historic win last weekend to deny Shamrock Rovers the double, capturing the senior side’s first trophy in their short, two-year, history by winning the Liam Dodd Cup final, 4-3 after extra time.

Unfortunately, their SDFL U-16s could not match their elders, losing out in the John Giles Cup final against Park Vale, but they did play some of the best football of the season. Captain Andrew Maher ensured that Cabo made their mark in the Tallaght stadium with his late goal.

A full report on the senior team’s success appears in the May 31 edition of the Gazette.

cabinteely fc face two cup finals this weekend

cabou16d1Cabinteely FC’s SDFL U-16 D1 side, and their senior men’s team, face stiff opposition this weekend when they seek to take two cups back to Kilbogget by Sunday evening.

First up are the senior men, who face Shamrock Rovers in the final of the LSL Liam Dodd Cup at 3pm on Saturday in Whitehall Rangers’ Paddy Mahony Park. Rovers are a powerful proposition, 12 points clear in the LSL Premier 1 league, and showed some prowess to progress in the semi-final against Loughlinstown.

The U-16s face Premier division table-toppers Park Vale FC in the final of the John Giles Cup, which kicks off at 11am on Sunday in Shamrock Rovers’ new Tallaght Stadium.
