Harrington still focused on Road to Dubai

Stackstown superhero, Padraig Harrington, is aiming high for the remainder of the season and targetting victories in the next three events on the Race to Dubai, starting with the upcoming Singapore Open.

In comparison to the first six months of the season, Harrington has managed to garner seven top ten finishes in the eight events that proceeded the British Open.

“I have had two halves to my season. The first six months performance-wise wasn’t very good. I was doing a lot of work on my game. I have now played well over the last three months but haven’t got a win. It’s nice to be playing well, but it’s getting frustrating not to win,” said Harrington.

With €2 million on offer to the victor in the next three events, which take place in Singapore, Shanghai and Dubai, Harrington is hoping to catch up to current leader Lee Westwood.

“It’s mathematically possible I can make number one. I would need a big run and that means I would have to win two of my last three events and finish very high up in the other, so if I am going to aim for that I may as well try and win all three. It is possible but it’s a very long shot.”

Harrington is Player’s Player of the Year

Stackstown’s Padraig Harrington was last week named as the inaugural winner of The European Tour Players’ Player of the Year Award for 2008.

Harrington, who successfully defended the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale before going on to capture the US PGA Championship at Oakland Hills, was honoured by his fellow Tour champions and a cast of golfing glitterati at the European Tour’s annual awards dinner at the Wentworth club.
