Falla na gClubanna needs your club crest

GAA clubs across the world are being approached to submit their club crests for inclusion on a commemorative wall that is being built outside the entrance to the GAA Museum in Croke Park.

As part of the GAA 125 celebrations, the Falla na gClubanna is being created in recognition of the role that clubs play in the GAA, and the intention is that every club will have their crest displayed.

The deadline for the collection of crests is June 30, so, to make sure of inclusion, contact your County Development Officer.

Ballinteer CS host Leinster handball finals

bcshandballThe Leinster schools’ Olympic Handball finals were held last week in Ballinteer Community School.

The Under-17 final between Ballinteer Community School and Drimnagh Castle was “a game of heart and soul, passion and will to win”, according to BCS coach, Lorraine Gallagher. It was a very close contest, which went to extra time and penalties. Drimnagh Castle beat BCS 3-1 on penalties.

After a cautious start in the Under-15 final, with defenders on both sides working hard, BCS eventually beat Drimnagh Castle 26-20.

Olympic handball is relatively new to BCS. According to Lorraine Gallagher, “Handball brings out the best in players and spectators. It demands a high level of sportsmanship and fair play.”
