St Sylvester’s Club Notes

Under-15B Championship Final: St Vincent’s 0-9 St Sylvester’s 2-8: This was a victory for the players, the managers, the large group of supporters, the many hours of training, belief, character, discipline, and on the day the total commitment of the players. It was magnificent and a great joy for all.

Under-16A Hurling Championship Semi-Final: St Sylvester’s 0-9 Lucan 2-14: They left everything they had to give on the pitch but Lucan had a very strong team and were deserving winners. The standard of hurling at this level was excellent and we gave it a great rattle in front of a very large crowd of supporters.

At adult level our junior hurlers lost by a single point to St Jude’s in the Championship semi final, and the minor B football team had a very impressive win over Cuala.

Next Sunday our 3rd adult football team play in the Junior B Championship final in Parnell Park. They deserve our support on the day for this great achievement.

Two bus-loads of supporters cheered on our hero, Sinead Ahearne, in the All Ireland Ladies Final. Sinead is the inspiration for this most vibrant section of the club which celebrated her great achievement despite the disappointing result. Our Gaelic for Mothers team provided the half-time entertainment in Croke Park.

80 teams from 32 counties took part in the All Ireland Ladies Sevens competition on Saturday. The army of volunteers under Brian Sullivan deserve great credit for the magnificent organisation of this huge event.
